Fundu Lagoon is not only surrounded by pure beauty of the ocean and jungle, but it also holds something special inside it’s tropical walls. The details of lamps, furnishings, curtains and fabric were all carefully selected and sourced to bring a sense of tribal riches with the inspiration of
Zanzibar and the village locals.
The rooms consist of designer linen, dressing gowns , down to the thousands of metres of fabrics and cotton – all of which were manufactured and imported to the island. The exciting combinations of masks, sculptures, jewellery, and other African artifacts add to the colour and themes that hang beautifully on the walls and around the Lagoon.
The lounge and dining areas were an exciting part of decor… as all the tables and chairs came from furniture makers in Salima, a small township in central Malawi. Their carved furniture was incredibly beautiful, it just had to have a spot in the hotel. The spa’s natural products, soaps and oils were created and designed specifically surrounding the local plant life and flora; providing guests with the true sense of serene tranquility.
